18/01/2017 – 03/01/2017 – Tutor Training program at diksa.
The program was well received and the feedback from the trainees was very encouraging. The feedback was as follows: “The course content was very exhaustive covering all the major areas of remedial teaching. The theory sessions were smoothly interwoven with relevant practical teaching experiences with individual supervision.All the teachers of diksa were very friendly and approachable when we went to them with our doubts.There was an atmosphere of openness and sharing.”

diksa conducted a series of interactive sessions for counselors in March /April 2017. The theme was the relevance and effectiveness of MLE or Mediated Learning Experience in a counselling context. It was attended by a team of experienced counselors.
The program highlighted the effectiveness of complementing the emotion based approach of counselling with the cognitive approach of MLE. Cognition and emotion are basically two sides of the same coin. Feedback from the counsellors -” What I have taken back from these sessions– The importance and value of learning through a mediator in our daily lives and our interactions with our family, the way it gives structure to our counseling approach, the cognitive deficits list is very useful and gives clarity in setting goals for our clients”.
12/04-13/04/2017- Children of diksa attended a craft workshop conducted by Mrs.Indirani. The workshop’s focus was on recycling house hold wastes and creating useful articles.
04/2017 -diksa centre for Cognitive Enhancement for Young Adults was launched.
The goal of this cognitive enhancement program is to equip the individual with the necessary cognitive skills to handle various life situations (personal and professional) independently and effectively. The program will help the young adult to set realistic goals and achieve success with a feeling of competence and optimism.
04/2017 -diksa Centre for Excellence in Math was launched.
diksa has worked with experts to develop many hands-on activities to help children visualize and understand math concepts and practice procedures & skills in a fun way. This approach has helped remove the general math phobia and replace it with confidence and enthusiasm to do math. Leveraging this expertise,’diksa Centre for Excellence in Math’ was launched
05/2017 – conducted a one of its kind math workshop,‘Math is Easy’ to build concept mastery for primary school children. The workshop involved a systematic, structured and sequential approach to build math concepts through practical hands on lab activities using simple daily use materials. It was attended by children from various schools.

Launching of ‘grow with math program’
diksa centre for excellence in math launched a unique program ‘grow with math’. It is a yearlong program to teach primary level math concepts to children. The concepts are taught in a fun filled way using sequentially structured practical math lab activities and activity sheets with a focus to encourage active student interaction. Mrs.Sudha Ganesh conducted a workshop on ‘Specific Learning Difficulties’ for the teachers of Thiruvavaduthurai Aathinam Higher Secondary school, Thiruvidaimaruthur in Thanjavur district. The workshop was well received by the teachers. They have shown interest to continue the association with diksa through online interaction, specifically for teaching math strategies.
